KECHE is an Akan word which literally means Skills. We deemed it an appropriate name as our intention has been to exhibit the musical skills we are blessed with. Joshua Ampah and Andrew Cudjoe make this talented, indomitable and dynamic duo. Both born and raised in Takoradi, in the Western region of Ghana, West Africa, our musical journey started very early in life as we both started singing at Sunday school and through basic education.

We graced the entertainment stage in our various secondary schools and performed at different functions in the region. We moved to Accra on separate sojourns but our paths crossed again in 2004 and that’s when KECHE was birthed and we decided to do music professionally. Andrew’s silky and sultry voice would compliment Joshua’s love for playing with words in an artistic way.

It has not been an easy journey as we have slept in studios without food, worked as cleaners in some of these studios without pay, washed plates and cars of other artists and even served as errand boys for some of our professional colleagues at some point; all in the ultimate pursuit of our dream. In all this we never gave up and we are happy to tell our story as it is one of our biggest motivations.

It wasn’t up until 2008 after being what is termed ‘Studio Boys’ within the industry for over five years that we managed to record our first ever single OMOGEMI through the help of KG (a member of KG&PM) and CEO of Made Men Music who had returned to Ghana for holiday from the USA. That we say was the turning point as it became the launch pad for where we are in our carrier thus far.

We also recorded Ring My bell ft Sarkodie in 2009 and Oh My God ft Guru and D Cryme in 2010 on Made Men Music, these records enjoyed widespread airplay and cemented our name in the industry, finally we were getting the recognition we craved for over the years.

A new and bigger chapter was to be opened when late in 2009 early 2010 on Spyder Lee Entertainment Label we released Pressure and Sokode, two songs that enjoyed massive airplay in Ghana and beyond our shores and initiated KECHE as a musical force to be reckoned with. Aluguntugui our biggest hit so far and a toast of all musical fans was released in 2012, MTN the biggest telecommunications operator on the African continent is currently using the song as a signature tune for one of their biggest commercials to hit the screens, really LIFE IS TASTY LIKE ALUGUNTUGUI.

Body Lotion and No maasione our current releases for 2013; are both enjoying massive airplay and we are ever grateful to our loyal fans for making these records what they are.

We have over the years performed all over the country and across the continent. We performed at the national stadium of Liberia for the President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2011 as part of Liberia’s independence celebrations; a stage that was graced by AREL of the USA chart topping group Next. Shontelle another American R&B singer together with Benny B Akon’s DJ also performed on the night. Prior to this we had been to Liberia earlier on in the same year to perform at the Embassy Night Club to the utmost delight of patrons who were thrilled by our music; this we believe is what triggered our invitation back to the country on a bigger stage later on.

2012 was a busy year as we performed at the Togo Youth Festival, went to the UK on two separate occasions courtesy Allordia Promotions and Akwaaba UK to treat our fans to our songs. We were also invited to the Afro Dance Festival at THE SAND in Mekongweg5, Amsterdam in 2013
Along the way on our musical journey which we believe has just started we have been shown recognition which we duly appreciate. The President of the Republic of Liberia in 2011 bestowed on us Global Ambassadors for peace.
Our second trip to Togo was at the invitation of Aquereburu and Partners a charity organisation that organised Festival D’ Aneho on the 14 September 2013. We were the international guest artists and we thrilled our numerous fans who thronged the venue.
